WINWINPOOL swimming pool paint system designed for concrete surfaces of approximately 68–70 sq.m. The complete 4-coat system consists of 2 coats of Concrete Sealer primer and 2 coats of Unithane W-4000 polyurethane topcoat.

The target dry film thickness is approximately 40 microns per coat, providing a total dry film thickness of approximately 160 microns. The set includes the appropriate thinner for each coating system and a concrete moisture meter, with a total of 17 items included in the complete set.

Suitable for swimming pools measuring approximately 4 × 8 × 1.5 meters, with a water volume of around 50 cubic meters, based on an actual paintable surface area of approximately 68 sq.m.

WINWINPOOL POOL PAINT SYSTEM 70SQ 160 MICRONS is a swimming pool paint kit for concrete pools, with quantities calculated from surface area and target film thickness. It suits a concrete pool surface of approx. 68-70 m², such as a pool of about 4 × 8 × 1.5 m (approx. 50 m³ of water) with an actual painted area of about 68 m².

The system is applied in 4 coats: 2 coats of Concrete Sealer epoxy primer and 2 coats of Unithane W-4000 polyurethane topcoat. The target dry film thickness is approx. 40 microns per coat, for a total of approx. 160 microns.

Extra quantity is included to allow for mixing losses, paint left in containers and on rollers, and surface roughness, porosity and absorption reducing the risk of running short mid-job.

Floor: 4 × 8 = 32 m²
Walls: (4 + 8 + 4 + 8) × 1.5 = 36 m²

We recommend checking with a wet film thickness comb during application and recording readings for each area, to keep thickness even across the pool. (The wet film comb is optional and not included in the standard 17-piece kit.)

Surface Preparation

New concrete should cure for at least 28 days
The surface must be sound, clean and dry, with no hydrostatic pressure from behind
The surface must be clean and dry, free from dust, oil, grease, algae, efflorescence and deteriorated old paint
Sand or grind the concrete to open the surface for good adhesion
Repair cracks, voids, joints and defects before starting
Remove all sanding/grinding dust and let the surface dry completely
Measure moisture at several points, especially the floor, deep end, corners and repaired areas
Measure moisture before every coat

Moisture requirements

Check moisture with the concrete moisture meter before every coat. If the meter reads in percent, we recommend no more than 4%, or follow the meter and coating manufacturers' standards.

Do not paint when

The surface is wet or seeping water
There are water droplets or dew on the surface
Relative humidity is above 85%
Surface temperature is below the dew point
The concrete has hydrostatic pressure from behind

Surface temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point

Mixing 2-Part Coatings and Using Thinners

How to mix A+B

Stir Part A until uniform before mixing
Add Part B to Part A at the ratio on the label
Mix with a low-speed mixer until uniform
Mix only what you can use within the pot life
Never estimate the ratio by eye
Never add extra A or B without weighing or measuring
Do not pour mixed paint back into the original can

Use only with Unithane W-4000 (coats 34)

Add thinner only when needed for the application method, weather and label instructions. Over-thinning causes thin film, sagging and reduced coverage. Never use the wrong thinner or swap thinners between the epoxy and polyurethane systems.

Inspect the surface

Clean and repair the surface, and measure moisture at several points before starting. Begin painting only when the surface passes.

Concrete Sealer coat 1

Mix Concrete Sealer A+B at the ratio on the label and apply evenly across the surface. Target dry film thickness approx. 40 microns.

Re-check the surface and moisture before applying the second coat of Concrete Sealer A+B. Target dry film thickness approx. 40 microns.

Check before the final coat

Re-check the surface and moisture. Remove dust nibs, sags, roller marks and other defects. The surface must be free of dew and condensation.

W-4000 topcoat coat 2 (final)

Apply the final coat of Unithane W-4000 A+B continuously over the whole surface. Target dry film thickness approx. 40 microns.

Cure 5 days before filling

All times are referenced at approx. 23°C and vary with temperature, humidity and ventilation.

Curing time before filling

Frequently Asked Questions

What pool size is this kit for?

A painted area (floor + all walls) of approx. 6870 m². For example, a 4 × 8 × 1.5 m pool (approx. 50 m³ of water) has about 68 m² to paint.

Why is there more paint than the theoretical calculation?

Theoretically you need about 2.69 sets of Concrete Sealer and 3.41 sets of W-4000, so we supply 3 sets of Concrete Sealer and 4 sets of W-4000 to allow for concrete porosity and absorption, surface roughness, and losses in mixing, containers and rollers.

Can W-M68 and W-M22 thinners be swapped?

No. W-M68 is only for Concrete Sealer and W-M22 is only for Unithane W-4000. Never use the wrong one or swap them between systems.

How dry must the surface be before painting?

If the meter reads in percent, no more than 4% (or per the manufacturer's standard), relative humidity no higher than 85%, and surface temperature at least 3°C above the dew point. Check before every coat.

How long before I can fill the pool?

At least 5 days at approx. 23°C. Allow longer in cool, humid or poorly ventilated conditions.

Can I choose the pool colour?

Yes. The Unithane W-4000 topcoat is available in a range of colours tell our team your choice when ordering. Actual colour may differ slightly from on-screen images.

Can it be used on a previously painted pool?

Yes, for renovation work once the surface is properly prepared, deteriorated old paint is removed and cracks are repaired. We recommend sending photos of the pool for our team to assess before ordering.

Is a wet film thickness comb included?

No, it is an optional extra. The standard 17-piece kit includes one concrete moisture meter.

My pool is larger than 70 m². What should I do?

How long is the warranty?

Up to 3 years, subject to company terms. It does not cover damage from structural issues, moisture, surface preparation or use not in line with the instructions.
