Product Details

WINWINPOOL POOL PAINT SYSTEM 70SQ120 MICRONS is a swimming pool paint kit with quantities calculated from the actual surface area to be painted and the target film thickness. It suits concrete or rendered pools with a total painted area of approx. 70 m², such as a pool of about 4 × 8 × 1.5 m.

The system consists of 1 coat of Concrete Sealer 2 Part clear epoxy primer and 2 coats of UNITHANE W-4000 polyurethane topcoat, with a target dry film of approx. 40 microns per coat about 120 microns in total.

The 70 m² refers to every surface to be painted floor, all walls, steps, benches, overflow gutters and other parts not the water surface area or pool volume.

How to Calculate Area and Paint Quantity

Approximate area formula
Floor = length × width
2 long walls = 2 × length × average depth
2 short walls = 2 × width × average depth
Total painted area = floor + walls + steps + benches + overflow gutters + other parts
Concrete Sealer (1 coat)
Area: 70 m²
Theoretical ~52 m² per set per coat
70 ÷ 52 = 1.35 sets
Rounded up to 2 sets
UNITHANE W-4000 (2 coats)
Area: 70 × 2 = 140 m²
Theoretical ~41 m² per set per coat
140 ÷ 41 = 3.41 sets
Rounded up to 4 sets

Coverage figures are theoretical. Actual consumption depends on porosity, roughness, pool shape, number of steps, equipment, technique and application losses. If the real area exceeds 70 m², or the surface is rough and highly absorbent, calculate and order extra paint.

Film Thickness Control

Formula
WFT = DFT ÷ Volume Solids
Volume solids approx. 55%
40 ÷ 0.55 = 72.7 microns
Targets for every coat
Dry film target (DFT): ~40 microns/coat
Wet film while applying (WFT): ~73 microns/coat

Use a wet film thickness gauge (optional accessory) right after each coat, and avoid letting paint build up in pools.

Surface Preparation and Moisture Checks

Surface preparation
  1. New concrete should be at least 28 days old, or fully dry
  2. Check the structure is sound, with no leaks or groundwater pressure
  3. Remove dust, friable render, oil, grease, curing compounds, algae, efflorescence and contaminants
  4. Abrade the concrete to an even profile
  5. Repair cracks, pinholes, voids and joints
  6. Remove all blistered, cracked or flaking old paint
  7. Sand well-bonded old paint to a matte, keyed finish
  8. Remove all sanding dust before priming
  9. After washing or pressure-washing, wait until completely dry before checking moisture and painting
Moisture and environment limits
CheckLimit
Concrete surface moisture4% (meters reading % for concrete) or per the meter manufacturer
Surface temperatureAbove 10°C and at least 3°C above dew point

Filling the Pool

  • Check the finish is even no blisters, peeling, cracks, pinholes or abnormally thin areas
  • Clean all dust and debris out of the pool
  • Fill continuously up to operating level
  • Avoid long pauses while filling that can leave a waterline mark
  • Balance the water chemistry gradually
  • Never let concentrated chemicals contact the coating directly

Safety and Warranty

  • Paints and thinners are flammable keep away from flames, sparks, heat and sunlight
  • No smoking in the work area
  • Ventilate well, especially inside the pool, which is a low area
  • Wear gloves, safety goggles, protective clothing and an organic-vapour respirator
  • Never use the wrong thinner or exceed the specified thinning rate
  • Do not use mixed paint past its pot life
  • Never pour paint, thinner or wash water into drains, waterways or soil
  • If in eyes, rinse with clean water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor
  • If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and seek medical help immediately
Up to 3-year warranty, subject to company terms

Conditions: installed per the specified system, correct surface preparation, moisture checked before every coat, WINWINPOOL system products and thinners used, and all recoat and curing times followed.

Not covered: damage from structural problems, cracking, concrete movement, groundwater pressure, excess moisture, improper surface preparation, incorrect mixing ratio, wrong thinner, or unsuitable water quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 70 m² mean?
It is the total surface to be painted floor, all walls, steps, benches, overflow gutters and other parts not the water surface or pool volume. For example, a pool of about 4 × 8 × 1.5 m.
Why 2 sets of primer and 4 sets of topcoat?
Theoretically, Concrete Sealer needs 70 ÷ 52 = 1.35 sets (1 coat) and W-4000 needs 140 ÷ 41 = 3.41 sets (2 coats), rounded up to 2 and 4 sets.
What are the mixing ratio and thinning rates?
Both products mix at A : B = 4 : 1 by volume. Concrete Sealer takes W-M68 at 05%, and W-4000 takes W-M22 at 010%, added only after mixing A+B.
When must I check moisture?
Before the primer, before the first topcoat and before the final topcoat, at several points: 4% (on % meters), RH 85%, surface temperature above 10°C and at least 3°C above dew point.
How long before I can fill the pool?
At least 5 days at approx. 23°C after the final coat longer in cool or humid conditions or with thick films.
Can I choose the pool colour?
Yes. The UNITHANE W-4000 topcoat is available in the company's colour range.
Is a wet film thickness gauge included?
No. It is an optional accessory (20370 microns), sold separately and not included in the 15 pieces or the kit price.
Does this kit waterproof the pool?
No. It is not a waterproofing material. Structural problems, leaks and groundwater pressure must be fixed before starting the coating system.
How long is the warranty?
Up to 3 years, subject to company terms, when installed per the system using WINWINPOOL products and thinners and following all steps.
Important note: Coverage and film thickness are approximate targets, and actual consumption depends on surface condition and workmanship. If the real area exceeds 70 m², calculate extra paint; for rough or highly absorbent surfaces, order additional paint. Trial a small area before painting the whole pool.
