WINWINPOOL POOL PAINT SYSTEM 50SQ160 MICRONS is a swimming pool paint kit for concrete pools, with quantities calculated from surface area and target film thickness. It suits an internal pool surface of approx. 4850 m², such as a pool of about 3 × 7 × 1.3 m (approx. 30 m³).
The system is applied in 4 coats: 2 coats of Concrete Sealer epoxy primer and 2 coats of Unithane W-4000 polyurethane topcoat. The target dry film thickness is approx. 40 microns per coat, for a total of approx. 160 microns.
Extra quantity is included to allow for mixing losses, paint left in containers and on rollers, and surface roughness, porosity and absorption reducing the risk of running short mid-job.

The 4-Coat System
How We Calculate Area and Paint Quantity
Long walls: 7 × 1.3 × 2 = 18.2 m²
Short walls: 3 × 1.3 × 2 = 7.8 m²
Total surface: 47 m² use the 50 m² kit
Approx. coverage: 100 ÷ 52 = 1.92 sets (theoretical)
Supplied: 3 sets to allow for concrete porosity and absorption
Approx. coverage: 100 ÷ 41 = 2.44 sets (theoretical)
Supplied: 3 sets for consistent thickness across the whole surface
Coverage rates are estimates. Actual consumption depends on surface roughness, porosity, absorption, application method, tools and site conditions.
Film Thickness Control
Total DFT = DFT per coat × number of coats
Total wet film: 73 × 4 292 microns
We recommend checking with a wet film thickness comb during application to keep thickness even across the pool. (The wet film comb is optional and not included in the standard 15-piece kit.)
Surface Preparation
- New concrete should cure for at least 28 days
- Check the pool structure is sound, with no cracking, settlement or hydrostatic pressure from behind the surface
- The surface must be clean and dry, free from dust, oil, grease, algae, efflorescence and deteriorated old paint
- Sand or grind the concrete to open the surface for good adhesion
- Repair cracks, voids, joints and defects before starting
- Remove all sanding/grinding dust and let the surface dry completely
- Measure moisture at several points, especially the floor, deep end, corners, joints and newly repaired areas
Check moisture with the concrete moisture meter before every coat. If the meter reads in percent, we recommend no more than 4%, or follow the meter and coating manufacturers' standards.
Do not paint when- The surface is wet or seeping water
- There are water droplets or dew on the surface
- Relative humidity is above 85%
- Surface temperature is below the dew point
- The concrete has hydrostatic pressure from behind
Mixing 2-Part Coatings and Using Thinners
- Stir Part A until uniform before mixing
- Add Part B to Part A at the ratio on the label
- Mix with a low-speed mixer until uniform
- Mix only what you can use within the pot life
- Never estimate the ratio by eye
- Do not add more A or B after mixing
- Do not pour mixed paint back into the original can
Application Steps
All times are referenced at approx. 23°C and vary with temperature, humidity and ventilation.

- Paints and thinners are flammable keep away from flames, sparks and heat sources
- Use in a well-ventilated area
- Wear gloves, goggles, a vapour respirator and suitable protective equipment
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes and do not inhale vapours
- Do not paint on wet surfaces or surfaces under hydrostatic pressure
- Do not mix paint or thinner at the wrong ratio or of the wrong type
- Keep away from children, food and drink
- Close containers tightly and store in a dry, cool, ventilated place

- Cracking or settlement of the concrete structure
- Hydrostatic pressure from behind the coating
- Surface moisture above the specified limit
- Improper surface preparation
- Incorrect mixing ratio or wrong thinner
- Coating applied too thin or too thick
- Not following recoat intervals and curing time
- Filling the pool before the coating has fully cured
- Unsuitable water quality or pool chemistry
- Sharp objects, impact or misuse
