Special Thinner for the WINWINPOOL W-4000 Coating System
WINWINPOOL Thinner W-M22 is a clear and colorless aromatic thinner intended for viscosity adjustment of two-component polyurethane coatings and for cleaning application tools and equipment after use.
It is specifically recommended for use with WINWINPOOL UNITHANE W-4000 in all colors. W-M22 must be added only after Part A and Part B have been thoroughly mixed together.

Shelf life applies when the product is stored in a tightly closed container under appropriate storage conditions.
Recommended Dilution for W-4000
Use W-M22 at a rate of 0-10% by volume based on the total quantity of W-4000 after Part A and Part B have been mixed together. Start with the minimum amount required. If the coating viscosity is already suitable, no thinner needs to be added.
Correct Mixing Procedure
Preparing the Surface Before Topcoat Application
- The primer must be dry according to the specified recoating time, sound and firmly adhered.
- The surface must be dry, clean and free from dust, oil, grease, water, salt deposits and other contaminants.
- Fill pores and repair surface defects. Do not allow standing water or trapped moisture.
- Lightly abrade the primer surface with fine sandpaper to improve adhesion, then remove all sanding dust.
- If the recoating interval has been exceeded or the surface is very glossy, sand the surface to a matt finish and clean thoroughly before recoating.
Application Conditions
Above 10°C and at least 3°C above the dew point.
Maximum 85%. Enclosed areas must be adequately ventilated.
Do not apply on wet surfaces, during rain, or when rain or dew is likely.
Protect the coating from water, oils, chemicals and pressure until it has fully cured.
How to Apply W-4000
Prepare and inspect the surface according to the requirements above.
Mix W-4000 Part A:B at a ratio of 4:1 by volume, then add W-M22 at 0-10% only when required.
Apply continuously and evenly using a brush, roller or spray equipment. Control the dry film thickness at approximately 30-50 microns per coat and avoid pooling or runs.
Stop using the mixed coating immediately once its usable pot life has expired, even if it still appears liquid.
Drying and Curing Time of the W-4000 System
W-M22 does not have a separate curing time. The values below refer to W-4000 after Part A and Part B have been mixed and thinner has been added.

Poor ventilation, excessive film thickness or excessive thinner may increase drying time.
Two-Coat Application Procedure
- Apply the first coat to achieve a dry film thickness of 30-50 microns and allow it to dry according to the actual temperature.
- At approximately 23°C, wait at least 3 hours before applying the second coat.
- Make sure the surface is dry and clean. Lightly sand the entire surface with fine sandpaper and remove the dust.
- Prepare a fresh batch of W-4000 at the 4:1 mixing ratio and add W-M22 at 0-10% as required. Do not use leftover mixed coating from the first coat.
- Apply the second coat evenly and protect it from water and chemicals until fully cured.

The actual amount of thinner may be lower than the maximum value. If the coating viscosity is already suitable, thinner should not be added in advance unnecessarily.
Equipment Cleaning
Clean spray equipment, spray hoses, nozzles, brushes, rollers and mixing containers immediately after use with W-M22.
Do not allow mixed polyurethane coating to remain in the equipment until it hardens.
Waste Disposal
Do not pour thinner, paint or waste into drains, waterways or onto the ground.
Storage and Safety Precautions
- Flammable liquid. Store in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area. Keep the container tightly closed.
- Keep away from children, direct sunlight, heat, flames, sparks and other ignition sources. Do not smoke.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas. Avoid inhalation of vapours or spray mist and avoid contact with skin.
- Wear suitable gloves, safety glasses and an organic vapour respirator where appropriate.
- In case of eye contact, rinse with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
- If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately.
- Once product has been poured out for use, do not return the unused portion to the original container.
