Hayward AquaRite 900 No Flow Light Stays On: What to Check

Hayward AquaRite 900 No Flow Light Stays On: What to Check
The No Flow light means the system cannot detect water flow, and the unit will stop producing chlorine.
This can be caused by a genuine lack of water flow or by a problem with the flow switch that detects it, so check things in order.

Check in 3 Steps
Check the pump and water flow
Is the filter pump running? Is water returning to the pool normally? Make sure the valves are in the operating position and nothing is blocking the system.
Check the flow switch plug and cable
Make sure it is properly plugged into the control unit and the cable is not cut or damaged.
Check the installation direction
The arrow on the flow switch must point in the direction of water flow, with at least 12 inches (about 30 cm) of straight pipe before the flow switch.
Correct Flow Switch Installation
The arrow points with the water flow, with at least 12 inches (about 30 cm) of straight pipe before the flow switch, as specified in the manual.
If water flow is sufficient but the No Flow light stays on, have a technician inspect the flow switch and installation.
Flashing Light vs Steady Light
Flashing at start-up
May be the start-up delay of about 15 - 60 seconds, per the manual.
Steady
The system still cannot detect flow. The cause needs to be found.
Switch off the breaker before removing any equipment or doing maintenance, and never bypass the flow switch to force the unit to produce chlorine without water flow.
The number 3200 shown here is an example salt reading. Look at the No Flow light and check the actual water flow as well.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the unit still produce chlorine when No Flow is on?
No. When the system cannot detect water flow, the unit stops producing chlorine.
Is it abnormal for No Flow to flash at start-up?
Flashing at start-up may be the delay of about 15-60 seconds described in the manual. If the light stays on, the cause needs to be found.
Can I bypass the flow switch to make the unit run?
No. The flow switch prevents the unit from producing chlorine without water flow, so bypassing it is unsafe.
What should I send for the shop to help diagnose it?
Send a photo of the control panel, a photo of the flow switch installation, and let us know whether the pump is running, via LINE @winwinpool.
Need Help With an Initial Diagnosis?
