Short Description
The EC16 salt chlorinator produces up to 16 g of chlorine per hour and is suitable for pools up to 68 m³. Its compact design requires little installation space and is easy to operate and maintain. The controller is mounted on the cell assembly.
Package dimensions: 16 × 34 × 25.5 cm
Gross weight including packaging: 2.87 kg
Updated: 04/03/2026
Maximum output 16 g/h · For pools up to 68 m³ according to the product listing
The EC16 uses electrolysis to generate sanitizing chlorine from salt dissolved in pool water. Its controller and chlorine-generating cell are integrated to save installation space, while the cell plates are accessible for maintenance. Chlorine production depends on a working circulation and filtration system, and water quality must still be tested regularly.
| Model / product code | LASWIM EC16 / SC-LS-EC16 |
|---|---|
| Maximum chlorine output | 16 grams per hour |
| Maximum pool volume | 68 cubic meters (subject to actual operating conditions) |
| Operating voltage / current | Use only the adapter supplied with the unit. Check the voltage and current on the actual equipment label before connecting power. |
| Pipe connection | 1.5 in / 50 mm. Verify the union size on the actual unit before installation. |
The 68 m³ figure is the maximum pool size in the reference table, not a guarantee of sufficient chlorine production for every pool. Allow for higher demand in outdoor or heavily used pools and assess the pump run time.
Install in the circulation line downstream of the pump and filter as directed by the manual. Check the flow direction and ensure sufficient water passes through the cell. Design bypasses and valves to suit the site's piping layout.
02 · Electrical supplyHave a qualified technician check the power supply and supplied adapter. Install residual-current protection and ensure the chlorinator cannot receive power when the pump is stopped.
Choose a well-ventilated location and protect electrical components from rain, humidity, and splashing. Leave room to remove the cell plates.
04 · Check water before startupMeasure salinity and water quality before generating chlorine. Start the pump and confirm normal water flow through the unit.
The EC Series manual gives a reference salt concentration of approximately 3,500 ppm or 3.5 kg per 1 m³ of water. Use pool-grade sodium chloride without unsuitable additives. Always measure existing salinity first to avoid adding too much salt.
Turn off the chlorinator while adding salt, keep the circulation pump running, and spread the salt so it does not collect on the pool floor. The manual recommends circulating the water for 24 hours, then measuring salinity again before switching on the chlorinator. Test free chlorine and pH regularly, and adjust run time or output based on actual readings.
| Code | Meaning | Initial checks |
|---|---|---|
| E2 | Water temperature out of range | Check water temperature and the sensor. |
| E3 | Insufficient water in the cell | Check the pump, valves, trapped air in the piping, and sensor. |
| E4 | High salt level | Measure salinity with a meter before taking corrective action. |
| E5 | Low salt level | Measure salinity before calculating how much salt to add. |
For other codes, consult the EC Series manual and contact a technician if the issue cannot be resolved. Never open the housing or repair circuits while the power is on.
Inspect the cell regularly and clean it if scale builds up. Automatic cleaning helps reduce deposits but does not replace inspection. Before removing the cell, disconnect power, stop the pump, close relevant valves, and release pressure in the pipe. If a cell-cleaning solution is needed, follow the EC Series manual and the solution's safety instructions. Do not scrape the titanium plates with metal tools.
The product listing specifies pools up to 68 m³. However, sun exposure, bather load, chlorine demand, and pump run time must also be considered. For a pool with high demand, assess a higher-output model.
The EC Series manual lists a normal salt concentration of approximately 3,500 ppm. Measure it before adding salt, and measure again once the salt has dissolved and circulated throughout the pool.
No. The cell requires sufficient water flow. Arrange the electrical controls so the chlorinator runs only while the circulation pump is operating.
Confirm the included components with our staff before ordering, as the package contents may vary.

How long might it take to raise the chlorine level in pools of different sizes? Use these initial calculations, then adjust run time to suit the actual pool.
This formula estimates the theoretical time needed to raise chlorine by the measured difference. It is not a daily run-time setting, because sunlight, swimmers, and contaminants consume chlorine during use.
Assume an initial free chlorine level of 0 ppm, a target of 2 ppm, and the EC16 operating at its maximum output of 16 g/h.
| Pool volume | Calculation | Theoretical time |
|---|---|---|
| 10 m³ | (10 × 2) ÷ 16 | 1.25 hours |
| 20 m³ | (20 × 2) ÷ 16 | 2.5 hours |
| 68 m³ | (68 × 2) ÷ 16 | 8.5 hours |
If measured chlorine is 1 ppm and the target is 2 ppm, use ΔPPM = 1, not 2. Test chlorine again to adjust actual run time.
A smaller pool needs less time than a larger pool for the same chlorine increase. This formula provides an initial estimate; set the daily run time based on pool conditions and measured water quality.
