Hayward AquaRite 900 High Salt Light On: What Should You Do?

When the High Salt light comes on, the unit has detected a high salt condition and stops operating. Before draining any water, check the cell model setting and confirm the actual salt level.

3 Checks Before Draining

1
Check the Turbo Cell model
The setting must match the installed cell. If it is set to the wrong model, correct it before reassessing the salt level.

2
Test the actual salt level in the water
Use a separate salt meter or test kit and compare it with the units reading to confirm the salt level really is high.
3
If salt really is high, dilute it
Per the manual, drain part of the pool water and refill with fresh water, calculating the amount to replace based on the salt level and pool volume.
Drain some water Refill with fresh water Circulate, then retest
Run the system so the water mixes thoroughly, then retest until the salt level is back in the recommended range.

Manufacturer-Recommended Salt Level

Recommended 2,7003,400 ppm Above recommended range

If the actual salt level is normal and the cell setting is correct but the High Salt light is still on, have a technician inspect the system before draining any more water.
