Emaux Galaxy IDE D.E. Filter
Micron-level filtration for clearer water than a sand filter
The Emaux Galaxy IDE uses diatomaceous earth (D.E.) or perlite powder to coat its filter grids, forming a fine, porous layer that traps dust, pollen, oils and microparticles a sand filter lets through. It runs at lower pressure, so your pump works less and uses less energy. Available in four sizes: IDE36, IDE48, IDE60 and IDE72.

Each filter type captures particles of a different size. The figures below are typical industry reference ranges; a lower number means finer filtration.

Choose the right size for your pool
Suggested pool volumes are calculated from each filter's maximum flow rate at a 6-hour turnover (commercial) and 8-hour turnover (residential). Pick a pump whose flow does not exceed the filter's maximum. Our team will size it for you at no cost. Use either D.E. or perlite, and add a fresh charge after every backwash.

Installation and start-up notes
- 1Place the filter on a level concrete base near the pump, leaving clearance above to lift out the lid and grids.
- 2Connect inlet and outlet through the 63 mm / 2" 6-way valve and route the waste/backwash line to a suitable drain.
- 3Run the pump on Filter and add D.E. or perlite through the skimmer using the amount in the spec table (pre-coat).
- 4Note the clean starting pressure after each pre-coat. When pressure rises by about 8-10 psi, backwash and recharge with fresh media.
Maintenance tips
- Backwash by pressure reading, not by calendar, to save media and water.
- Remove and deep-clean the grids at least once or twice a year.
- Inspect the lid O-ring and clamp regularly; replace a dry or cracked O-ring.
- Wear a dust mask when handling D.E. powder and dispose of spent media according to local regulations.
Required installation clearance
Allow at least 51 cm of side clearance for the valve and service access, and the top clearance shown below so the lid and grid assembly can be lifted out for cleaning. Check your equipment-room height before ordering.
