Hayward AquaRite 900 Inspect Cell Light Stays On: Do You Need a New Cell?

Hayward AquaRite 900 Inspect Cell Light Stays On: Do You Need a New Cell?
A steady Inspect Cell light is different from a flashing one. According to the manual, cell efficiency has dropped significantly and the unit will stop producing chlorine. Find the cause before deciding to replace the cell.
Flashing vs Steady Inspect Cell
Flashing
A signal to inspect the cell. It may be a scheduled inspection or reduced cell efficiency.
Steady
Cell efficiency has dropped significantly and the unit stops producing chlorine.
3 Checks Before Deciding to Replace the Cell
Everything Checks Out but the Light Stays On
If all three are confirmed and the light is still on, have a technician assess the cell, because the cell may be worn out and need replacing.
Holding the Diagnostic button resets a flashing light. It does not fix the cause of a steady Inspect Cell light.
While the unit is not producing chlorine, test the chlorine level with a test kit and have your pool caretaker adjust maintenance based on the results.
The number 3200 shown here is an example salt reading, not an error code. Look at the status lights and actual test results together.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace the cell if Inspect Cell stays on?
Dont conclude that right away. Check the Turbo Cell setting, test the actual salt level and inspect for scale first. If everything is correct and the light stays on, have a technician assess whether the cell is worn out.
Is the unit still producing chlorine when the light is steady?
No. According to the manual, the unit stops producing chlorine. In the meantime, test chlorine with a test kit and adjust care based on the results.
Can I reset it by holding the Diagnostic button?
Holding Diagnostic resets a flashing light. It does not fix the cause of a steady Inspect Cell light and does not repair the cell.
