Hayward AquaRite 900 Inspect Cell Light Flashing: Is the Cell Bad?

A flashing Inspect Cell light is a signal to inspect the cell. It may be time for a scheduled inspection, or the unit has detected reduced cell efficiency. It does not mean the cell must be replaced right away.

3 Steps When Inspect Cell Is Flashing

1
Check the Turbo Cell model setting
The setting must match the installed cell.
t-3 t-5 t-9 t-15
2
Check for scale and debris
Switch off the breaker before removing the cell. Look inside for scale or blockages. If cleaning is needed, follow the method in the manual or have a technician do it.
3
Reset the warning only after inspecting
After inspecting and reassembling, switch the system on, then press and hold the Diagnostic button for 3 seconds, as described in the manual, to reset the flashing Inspect Cell light.
DIAGNOSTIC Hold for 3 seconds

Inspect the Cell Before Clearing the Warning

Resetting turns the warning light off, but it does not remove scale or fix the cause of reduced cell efficiency.

If the light keeps warning after inspection and cleaning, test the actual salt level and have a technician assess the cell condition.

Flashing and Steady Inspect Cell Mean Different Things

When requesting service, send a short video showing how the light behaves so the problem can be diagnosed accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to replace the cell if Inspect Cell is flashing?

Not yet. This light is a signal to inspect the cell. It may be a scheduled inspection or reduced cell efficiency. Check the settings and scale first.

How do I reset the Inspect Cell light?

After inspecting and reassembling, switch the system on and press and hold the Diagnostic button for 3 seconds, per the manual.

Can I just reset it without inspecting the cell?

We dont recommend it. Resetting turns the light off but does not remove scale or fix the cause of reduced efficiency.

The light is still on after cleaning. What next?

Test the actual salt level with a separate kit and have a technician assess the cell condition.

Why You Should Never Use Exposed Aggregate (Washed Sand Finish) Inside a Swimming Pool
Why You Should Never Use Exposed Aggregate (Washed Sand Finish) Inside a Swimming Pool Using exposed aggregate or washed sand finish inside the pool is strongly discouraged because chlorine and pool chemicals gradually erode the surface, causing sand particles to loosen and detach. These particles are then carried by the water flow into the filtration system, where they often get stuck in the pump impeller, leading to wear, reduced performance, and costly pump damage. Additionally, exposed aggregate surfaces retain algae, are difficult to clean, and the rough texture may cause scratches or abrasions to swimmers. As the surface deteriorates, loose particles make the pool water cloudy and increase the frequency of maintenance, driving up long-term operating costs. ✅ Recommendation
